2016 Ombré Hair portrait

Kelly ombré hair in Lantzville BC

We did an ombré hair colour service and portrait photoshoot on March 21, 2016, at ADIA Salon in Nanaimo. Our model, Kelly Klaassen, wanted a stylish colour that would be easy to maintain and that would compliment her complexion.  Ombré hair colour is a common service performed at ADIA Salon.  For this service, we used Paul Mitchell professional hair colour, and an high gloss toner with Olaplex for it's ability to restore and renew hair.

Kelly Klaassen is the co-owner and operator of Island-ish, a great shop in Departure Bay that caters to authentic Vancouver Island clothing, style and artisans.  Island-ish also has a great online presence at www.island-ish.com.  If you are looking for authentic Nanaimo gifts, art, soaps, jewelry, clothing, or chalk based paint we highly recommend www.island-ish.com.  You can visit the Island-ish shop to look at their selection, or you could learn how to restore dated but beautiful furniture with high quality chalk based paint right here in Nanaimo during one of their many workshops.  Regardless, if you run into Kelly, please be sure to compliment her on her awesome hair!!  😉

Kelly was very natural in front of the camera and was a great model, it was great to work with her on this photoshoot.  Kelly loved her hair colour and cut.  She especially commented on the many layers, and how her hair moves.

Hair can be damaged by the sun, from heated styling tools, and from performing hair chemical services.  Professional salon products, like Paul Mitchell hair colour, can be applied by an experienced hair stylist to limit the potential damage.  Unlike box dyes, the concentration of professional products is adjusted to cater to each service.  Hair stylists adjust their colour formula based on their assessment of the hair's health, the history of chemical services done on the hair, and on the amount of contrast between the original colour and the desired colour.  Professional hair stylists will also apply hair colour to only the hair that will be changed so that unaffected hair is not processed.  For an ombré hair colour like the ombré colour featured in this gallery, only the end of the hair is coloured through stylist techniques such as foils to limit the spread of colour or through applying colour with an artistic 'balayage' method.  Healthy hair is shinier, smoother, easier to maintain, and will grow longer without splitting ends.

Interested in professional hair colour?  At ADIA Salon, we provide free consultations and recommendations.  There is no obligation to book the hair service. We would love to see you, and be part of your style!
